INTERIOR DESIGNER
As an Asheville native, Grace grew up exposed to the art and culture this area has to offer.
Grace Hazen Simmons pursued an interest in design when she attended Western Carolina University and graduated at the top of her class with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Interior Design. She gained the majority of her experience working at a residential interior design firm where she served the role of a lead interior designer and also the firm’s computer drafting specialist.
Working on plan design projects quickly produced an interest in architecture, which lead to the transition to her position at ACM Design. Now she has found the perfect balance for her creative eye and technical skills. In her free time, Grace enjoys traveling, painting, and tackling her next DIY project.
“As with art, interior design and architecture create beautiful things that speak to the audience–with home design, that audience is the family who will make this their home. To create beautiful art, you need a muse. When designing a custom home, the family and their needs are the inspiration.”

Q: How do you take your coffee?
A: “I like my coffee with flavored creamer (and whipped cream if I’m feeling fancy).”
Q: What do you love most about the Asheville area?
A: “This part of Western North Carolina is so dynamic. I love the combination of the unique culture, art scene, and great food. There are always new places opening up and so many culinary options for the foodie in me. And of course the natural beauty surrounding us is so inspiring.”
Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: “When I was really young I wanted to be a teacher. I would set up a pretend school with my brother and sister and teach them math and reading. Then when I realized I needed to do something creative, my focus shifted to interior design.”
Q: If you could visit anywhere in the world you haven’t been, where would it be?
A: “I would love to visit Spain. I think Spanish architecture is so mesmerizing and I would love to see it in person.”
