Mountain Modern

The Mountain Modern home is carefully tucked into the ridgeline.  The home is both nestled into the site giving it a direct sense of place and is situated to capture various mountain views. The design specifically and strategically created spaces and used windows and doors to frame amazing long range views of the mountains and the valley below.  Vistas from the main living space and family game room, as well as their adjacent outdoor spaces are breathtaking. Windows in the kitchen and main suite also frame short range mountain views through the woods.

The style of the home is mountain modern, with a uniquely WNC-feel present in a mixing of natural materials like stone and wood with metal. A modern interpretation of Craftsman style, the details bring a unique character to the home with exterior features such as dark gray board and batten siding, rich stained wood on the roof eaves, and exposed rafter tails. The roof becomes a defining component of the overall design with a series of lower pitched hips and gables along with large overhangs.

The open concept design of the interior features a great room with large stone fireplace centrally located between the kitchen, dining, and outdoor living. The Clerestory, which crowns the great room and kitchen, is flanked on all sides with windows.  This invites natural light to stream in through the tree canopy to highlight the custom walnut millwork, stonework, and stained wood beams. The light quality in this space highlights its extraordinary character and craftsmanship.

Custom walnut cabinets bring warmth and depth to the kitchen while the large center island provides plenty of seating for family and friends. The pantry is accessible through doors directly integrated into the cabinetry, allowing privacy and ease of access both from the kitchen and the adjacent garage. The kitchen spills into the great room with its large stone fireplace and hearth. The great room flows directly to the covered outdoor living area via large glass doors that pocket and disappear into the wall nearly doubling the overall living space. The outdoor living features its own wood-burning fireplace and outdoor kitchen and frames breathtaking, long range views of the mountainscape.

Luxurious guest suites can be found both on the lower and upper levels offering privacy for family and friends. A gorgeous bar and entertaining space on the lower level is perfect for games and movies and captures the same long range mountain views as the great room. The organization, size and flow of space in this home design makes it perfect for a large gathering of family and friends or a quiet evening for two.
